The old Maxima was getting pushed pretty hard by its little brother, the Altima. Nissan apparently decided it was high time to put some daylight between the boys, and pushed the new Maxima up several notches in design, features, and amenities. This photo slide show hits the high points.

Recipe for an innovative mild hybrid, the Th!nk Revolt:
1- 2000 Th!nk City (a plastic-bodied Norwegian electric two-seater)
1 - Two-kilowatt Sterling engine
1 - 18.3 kilowatt/hour Lithium-ion battery
1 - 55 horsepower electric motor

Now add a serious dose of genius, provided by Dean Kamen—inventor of the Segway—stir Mr. Kamen's gray cells a bit, and you get a small electric car with a Sterling-powered range-extending trickle charger, and enough heat for passenger warmth and defrosting the windshield on cold days.

The photo shows Mr. Kamen holding the Sterling engine that is somewhat expensive to build, but still cheaper than the cost of increased battery storage.

The last time a Pontiac got my juices flowing like this, they did it with a 1964 GTO, 389 cube, tri-power.

The '64 had brakes that stopped it eventually, and nobody cared about fuel economy back then. The old Goat had a base price of about $3000.

And now, the new G8. A beautiful car, and the guy drivin' it is impressed.

A look at what Ford Europe is doing to compete in the EU cross-over market. So far, this is a Europe-only vehicle, powered by a 2.0-liter common rail diesel rated at 134 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque.
